Dwarf, evergreen, much-branched shrub (up to 60 cm) with slender, wiry, woolly branches and minute, clustered, silvery leaves. Produces spike-like purple-brown flowerheads in autumn/winter. Aromatic, unpalatable, and drought-adapted; forms dense stands in degraded grasslands.
