Multi-stemmed shrub or small tree, up to 5 m tall. Bark grey, smooth when young, becoming rough and fissured. Leaves simple, ovate to elliptic, green above, densely hairy below. Flowers yellow, small, in clusters. Fruits fleshy, orange to red when ripe. Common in dry woodlands and savannas.
