Perennial, deciduous, bulbous plant with large bulbs and a tall flowering stem (35 – 200 cm). After flowering, a rosette of leaves (20 – 50 cm long) emerges. Flowers are small, white, densely packed on the tall stem. Bulb is often partly above ground.
Insects:Flowers attract bees and other insects.
Wildlife:Bulb may be eaten by rodents.
Soil:Not a nitrogen fixer.
Ecosystem Services:Ornamental, supports pollinators, early colonizer of disturbed ground.
